WAGG presentation: Competition at port

WA Grains Group chair Doug Clarke says the highest per-hectare cost to farming operations is getting the grain from the paddock on to the ship. In this presentation Mr Clarke details why this is the case, and provides possible solutions to the grain transport problem, such as franchising current receival sites.

“Should franchising be achieved then we will be able to retain receival sites, meet the growers needs and not the marketers, provide a service that better suits the growers, reduce stress at harvest instead of it being increased, remove the need to blend grain on-farm to meet certain standards and improve site performance.”
