The W.A. Grains Group (Inc) would like to send a timely reminder to growers as to their rights and obligations when signing forward grain sales contracts. With many areas of W.A. experiencing good crop conditions and with reasonable grain prices being offered, the W.A. Grains Group Chairman Mr Doug Clarke said as there was still some 3 months before harvest and growers wishing to sell grain forward should be fully aware of the contractual terms and conditions. GTA standards review

Grain Trade Australia provides a backgrounder on their policy to increase the minimum test weight for milling wheat grades.

“If we continue to trade milling wheat at 74kg/hl, there will be a potential loss of markets or at a minimum we will not be able to compete effectively.”

In this document, NACMA (now known as Grain Trade Australia) gives an overview of the proposed changes to grain standards for the 2009/10 season, which include increasing the test weight for milling wheat varieties, making a national minimum standard for APW wheat and refining the sampling procedures in place for those sites with manual spearing.

“The NACMA Standards Committee is seeking industry comment on the issues in this document and on any other Grain Standards related issue.”
